Questions To Ask While Reading

Reading with your student is a great bonding experience, as well as an opportunity for them to learn to be active readers and think critically. These questions and discussions will help to make story time with them a time to remember! Below are some questions that you can ask while reading to help develop their critical thinking and help them grow as a reader.

What do you predict will happen next?

Who are the characters in the story?

Which character can you relate to and why?

What adjectives (descriptive words) best describes that character?

Is there a part of this story that connects to your life?

How would this story be different if it was told from a different point of view?(a character or a narrator)

If you could create your own ending to the story, what would that be?
